Diedra Kmetovic, a native of California, is a self-taught bead-weaver who has been working with beads to make jewelry for over thirty years.  At the age of 8 her grandmother gave her a box of beads and she has been hooked ever since.  Her particular favorite technique is hollow-formed, sculptural-peyote stitch with which she makes miniature amphora, covered with beaded flowers. Ms. Kmetovic has also been trained in metal jewelry making techniques and glass bead making.  She holds a teaching credential from the state of California and loves to teach students of all ages how arts and crafts not only inspire creativity but also relate strongly to math and science.
